More than a massage device
for scar treatment
Gentle support in scar therapy – with novafon. Scars develop after surgery, injuries, or burns and can cause discomfort far beyond their visible appearance. Hardenings, feelings of tension, pain, or restrictions in mobility are common consequences that affect everyday life. This is exactly where novafon comes in: As a certified medical device, it supports scar treatment through targeted vibro-tactile stimulation of the tissue. The gentle sound waves penetrate deep into the tissue and can promote blood circulation, release adhesions, and improve tension regulation.² With regular use, both recent and older scars can be treated gently – as part of therapeutic aftercare or for self-application at home. Whether after surgical procedures, in the case of traumatic scars, or chronic movement restrictions: novafon can help mobilize tissue, relieve pain, and positively influence the appearance of scars – for greater mobility, less tension, and improved body awareness.³
Targeted deep effectiveness for scars
novafon penetrates up to 9 cm deep into the tissue through vertical vibrations. Hardened or adhered structures that restrict mobility can be gently loosened through targeted application, making the tissue more elastic.
Relieve scar-related discomfort
novafon sound wave devices have been proven to help relieve pain and discomfort in the scar area.³ They are specifically used for feelings of tension, hardening, or sensory disturbances after surgeries or injuries.⁴
Effective support for patients
Thanks to easy self-application, the treatment can be continued at home – for noticeable improvement in tissue mobility, fewer symptoms, and active support of the healing process.

Step 1
Preparation of the surrounding tissue
Use the 50 Hz frequency and an intensity adapted to your patient’s sensitivity. First, gently stroke the tissue around the scar over a wide area to help it relax. In addition to the standard attachments, you can also use the Sensiroller for additional tactile stimulation. Prepare the area in this way for approximately 5–10 minutes.

Step 2
Treatment of painful scars
Use the 100 Hz frequency and an intensity adapted to your patient’s sensitivity. Slowly approach the scar and work in circular movements. Vary the intensity at regular intervals to prevent sensory adaptation. Treat the area in this way for approximately 5–10 minutes.

Treatment Steps for a device-assisted
treatment of scars
The novafon can be used to mobilize scar tissue, loosen adhesions, and promote sensitivity in the scar area. The application with the novafon should not exceed a total duration of 20 minutes and can be repeated up to three times daily. Begin the treatment gently in the surrounding tissue and then gradually extend it toward the affected scar. Make sure to carry out the following steps carefully and in a controlled manner.
Step 1
Stroking the masticatory muscles
In the first step, the masticatory muscles are stroked. Use the plate attachment, select 50 Hz, and adjust the intensity to a level that feels comfortable for you. Begin by stroking the masticatory muscles from the ear toward the chin (A–B). You can also stroke from the chin toward the ear (B–A). Treat each side of the face for 2–3 minutes. During the treatment, you can additionally open and close your mouth slowly. Then proceed to Step 2.

Occupational Therapy
"The use of the device has proven particularly effective in hand therapy (e.g. for CRPS, CTS, Dupuytren’s disease, osteoarthritis, nerve injuries, swelling, and pain). Especially in scar treatment after accidents and/or surgical procedures, the device is well suited for scar mobilization. The affected area is better supplied with blood and the tissue becomes more elastic. [...]“

Frequently Asked Questions
- How are novafon sound wave devices used in physiotherapy?
novafon devices feature various attachments for targeted or large-area treatment. They can be used to prepare for manual therapy or physiotherapy, as well as in individual sessions. The application is risk-free and can also be carried out by patients themselves.
- For which indications can novafon sound wave devices be used in physiotherapy?
novafon sound wave devices use targeted local vibro-tactile stimulation that achieves a depth effect of up to 6 cm. They can be used in various orthopedic and neurological applications, including the treatment of spasticity, craniomandibular disorders (CMD), pain relief, and sports therapy. All areas of application on the body are described with treatment instructions in the included user guide.
- Is novafon comparable to a massage gun?
novafon products are not simple massage devices for physiotherapy. They are devices for targeted local vibration therapy and work with vertical vibrations in the audible sound range. Instead of using mechanical удар energy or rotation, they rely on targeted local vibro-tactile stimulation. With frequencies of 50, 75, or 100 Hz, they stimulate the sensorimotor system, promote blood circulation, and support metabolism. In addition, these sound wave devices for professional physiotherapy have been proven to penetrate deeper than other therapeutic approaches (6+ cm) without requiring physical effort. They therefore serve as an effective aid in symptom treatment across various orthopedic and neurological indications. Thanks to the deep-acting sound wave technology, reliable therapeutic results can be achieved after only a short, low-effort treatment.
- What advantages do novafon sound wave devices offer compared with other sound-based and massage devices in physiotherapy?
novafon sound wave devices are significantly gentler than, for example, shockwave therapy, while achieving a unique depth of effect of 9 cm+. Compared to ultrasound devices, they are more flexible and mobile in use. Compared to massage guns and similar devices, they work in a much more targeted way and are easier to regulate.
- Are there clinical studies showing the effectiveness of novafon sound wave devices?
Positive effects of local vibration therapy have been demonstrated in clinical studies. The treatment led to improvements in pain perception and neurological indications such as spasticity. You can find an overview of all clinical studies and publications here.
