Medically tested sound wave vibration therapy for the treatment of myofascial pain
The application of local vibration therapy with Novafon can be used in a targeted manner to support fascia therapy. Through gentle stimulation of myofascial structures, blood circulation is promoted, tension is released, and pain is relieved. This also increases patients’ mobility. The effectiveness of local vibration therapy in pain management has been demonstrated in numerous studies.¹

Local vibration therapy
for pain
The sound wave vibration device for effective pain relief.
Other pain therapy devices are often inflexible in use, difficult to regulate, require additional coupling media (e.g. ultrasound gel), or are only suitable for specific indications. Fascia rollers, sound wave vibration therapy, and similar methods can often even be painful. In contrast, novafon products work with gentle sound waves at frequencies of 50 Hz (relaxation), 75 Hz (muscle activation), or 100 Hz (pain relief). At 100 Hz, small pain-free time windows are initially created through the so-called gate control principle. Within these windows, for example, massage, mobilization, or exercise therapy can be performed with less pain and therefore more effectively. Regular treatment with Novafon also improves muscle function and reduces pain intensity. Thanks to the combination of amplitude and up to three frequencies, a depth of effect of up to 9 cm is achieved.
Relieve fascial discomfort
Targeted vibration therapy helps reduce muscular tension and mobilize fascia. Especially in cases of acute and chronic pain, the application provides noticeable relief and supports mobility.¹
Treatment of myofascial trigger points
Myofascial trigger points are often associated with persistent pain and can be treated through mechanical stimulation. Local vibration therapy represents an effective complement to manual therapy.²
Recovery after high levels of strain
novafon can stimulate muscles and cells through targeted vibrations, promote blood circulation, and release tension. It is suitable both after training and for use at home, supporting passive recovery and overall well-being.

Step 1
Treatment of the lumbar spine
Treatment of the lumbar spine ideally begins in a side-lying position. Select the disc attachment and set the device to 50 Hz. Stroke the area to the right and left of the spine between the ribs and the pelvis in both directions using broad movements for 2–3 minutes.

Treatment steps for device-assisted
treatment of myofascial pain
Myofascial pain is caused by hardened muscles and trigger points – often associated with restricted movement and chronic complaints. Local vibration therapy with novafon can provide effective support in this context. The following plan shows how the sound wave vibration device can be meaningfully integrated into treatment, for example of the lumbar spine. Application with novafon lasts a total of 10–15 minutes and can be repeated up to twice daily.
Step 3
Treatment of pain points
Then switch to the ball attachment, set the device to 100 Hz, and treat each pain point for 30–60 seconds. You can either remain on the respective pain point or treat it using gentle circular movements.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the effectiveness of the treatment scientifically proven?
Yes. The first clinical studies investigating the pain-reducing effects of local vibration therapy date back to the 1980s. Since then, this form of shockwave therapy has become established as an effective, non-pharmacological treatment for acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. By applying vibration directly to the painful area or to surrounding trigger points, a long-lasting pain-relieving effect has been demonstrated in some cases for a range of chronic pain conditions (including fibromyalgia, tendinitis, and phantom pain) (Staud, 2011; Lundeberg, 1984–1987).
- Is the treatment painful?
No. In general, treatment with novafon is very comfortable, and you can gradually increase the intensity. After switching on the device, you will hear a soft humming sound. As soon as you place the device on the area of the body to be treated, this humming becomes even quieter, and you will feel gentle yet effective vibrations on your skin. However, be sure not to treat for longer than 20 minutes at a time and allow your body time to adapt to the vibrations.
- Can the treatment make things worse or cause damage?
Local vibration therapy with novafon is a simple, safe, and effective treatment method. It is TÜV-certified for use by consumers at home. As a medical device manufacturer, however, it is important to us that you use our device correctly, and we would like to inform you about all contraindications and possible side effects. You can find these here: https://novafon.com/de/kontraindikationen.
