TREATMENT OF THE CALF AND ACHILLES TENDON
Runners, in particular, are familiar with pain in the Achilles tendon and are frequently affected by achillodynia or inflammation of the Achilles tendon. The calf muscle consists of three sections. In the lower part of the calf, they come together to form the Achilles tendon that is attached at the rear to the heel bone. The Achilles tendon transmits the entire contractive force of the calf muscles to the bone structures, particularly those of the foot. For that reason, the attachment point of the Achilles tendon to the foot or rather heel is one of the most strained areas of the human body. This area is very prone to inflammatory reactions. Most complaints arise from excessive strain.

The NOVAFON device can be used for the treatment of the sore areas of calf and Achilles tendon. NOVAFON treatment takes a total of 10–15 minutes per side and can be repeated up to twice daily. Before you start, plug your NOVAFON into the socket and take a comfortable seat. Carry out the treatment on the affected side, or both sides if required. Make sure to follow the steps outlined here precisely.
1 – STROKING OF THE CALF MUSCLES
Switch your NOVAFON to level II and use the plate attachment to stroke the entire area between the back of the knee and the heel for 2–3 minutes. Be sure to treat both the inside and outside of the calf.
2 – SORE AREAS OF THE CALF
Next select the ball attachment and switch your device to level I. Treat the sore areas in the calf muscles and focus there for 30–60 seconds. The sore areas are usually on the outer calf or in the middle of the calf. You can either spot-treat the sore area or use a gentle circular motion.
3 – TREATMENT OF THE ACHILLES TENDON
To treat the Achilles tendon, select level I and the ball attachment. Move the device up and down along the middle, right and left of the Achilles tendon for 2–3 minutes. Repeat this treatment up to twice a day.
